TRUSTNORDISK CLOSES US SALE ON ‘QUEEN OF HEARTS’

TrustNordisk has sealed a deal with Breaking Glass Pictures in the US, a key territory for May El-Toukhy´s Sundance award-winning QUEEN OF HEARTS.

 

Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired May el-Toukhy´s Danish drama QUEEN OF HEARTS for the US. 

The film - which is one out of three on the Danish Oscar submission shortlist, and the winner of is the world´s most lucrative film award: The Goteborg´s Dragon Award - celebrated its´ world premiere at this year´s Sundance Film Festival, where it also won The Audience Award for World Cinema Dramatic.

The drama offers a prominent Scandinavian cast, including Silver Bear-winning Danish actress Trine Dyrholm (YOU DISAPPEAR, 2017; THE COMMUNE, 2016; IN A BETTER WORLD, 2010), Swedish upcoming talent Gustav Lindh, winner of the Rising Star Award at Stockholm Film Festival in 2017, and internationally acclaimed Swedish actor Magnus Krepper (BEFORE THE FROST, 2018; BECOMING ASTRID, 2018; THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE, 2009).

 

TrustNordisk has closed a number of sales on the Danish drama. Previously deals include the UK and Ireland (Thunderbird), Benelux (September Films), South Korea (Lumix), Mexico (Cinemex), Israel (Lev Cinema), Greece (Videorama), Hungary (ADS service), Czech Republic and Slovakia (Film Europe), Estonia (Estin Film), Romania (Transilvania Film), Spain (Festival Films), Portugal (Alambique), Poland (Gutek), Brazil (Arteplex), Japan (AT), Russian, Ukraine and Lithuania (Capella) and Taiwan (Cineplex).

 

Synopsis:

 A woman jeopardizes both her career and her family when she seduces her teenage stepson and isforced to make an irreversible decision with fatal consequences.

 

The film is produced by Caroline Blanco & René Ezra for Nordisk Film Production A/S. With support from the Danish Film Institute, the Swedish Film Institute and Nordic Film & TV Fund in collaboration with DR and SVT.
