THE SALVATION hits EFM 2013

08-02-2013

It´s the 1870s America. When settler John kills his family´s murderer, he unleashes the fury of notorious gang leader Delarue. Betrayed by his corrupt and cowardly community, the peaceful pioneer must turn vengeful hunter, slay the outlaws, and cleanse the town´s black heart.

THE SALVATION is an epic tale of revenge, lost love and greed and it hits the European Film Market (EFM) at this year´s Berlin International Film Festival as TrustNordisk starts presales of the highly anticipated project from Zentropa Entertainments.

Paying tribute to the classic western with inspiration from the Nordic sagas, THE SALVATION stars Palme d´Or recipient Mads Mikkelsen (THE HUNT, 2012; A ROYAL AFFAIR, 2012) in the lead as John.
The director is the multiple awardwinning Kristian Levring (THE KING IS ALIVE 2000; FEAR ME NOT 2008), who was the fourth signatory of the Dogme95 movement. The script is written by Academy Award®-winner Anders Thomas Jensen (IN A BETTER WORLD, 2010; LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED, 2012) together with Kristian Levring. THE SALVATION is produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen, who is behind such successes as Cannes winner THE HUNT (2012), Academy Award® and Golden Globe winner IN A BETTER WORLD (2010) and FIPRESCI winner A FAMILY (2010), also selected for Berlin IFF competition.

THE SALVATION is in preproduction, scheduled to be shot on location in South Africa this spring.
