The 64th Berlin International Film Festival has selected Pernille Fischer Christensen´s SOMEONE YOU LOVE for Berlinale Special, a section that highlights new and extraordinary productions and honors great cinema personalities by showing their films.
Fischer Christensen will be returning to the Berlin International Film Festival with an emotional drama filled with evocative music starring Mikael Persbrandt (IN A BETTER WORLD, 2010; THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, 2013) as a self-contained musician who gets a chance to redeem himself when a tragic incident turns his life upside down.
Persbrandt plays opposite the two Danish actresses Trine Dyrholm (IN A BETTER WORLD, 2010; A ROYAL AFFAIR, 2012 and LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED, 2012) and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (BORGEN, 2010-2013).
Fischer Christensen will be attending Berlin International Film Festival for the third time. In 2006 her debut feature A SOAP (2006) was selected for Official Competition and took home the Silver Berlin Bear and an award for Best Debut. Four years later, in 2010, Fischer Christensen, returned to the Berlin International Film Festiva´s Competition section with the drama A FAMILY which received the FIPRESCI Prize. SOMEONE YOU LOVE is Fischer Christensen´s 4th feature film.
World famous singer-songwriter Thomas Jacob lives in Los Angeles. He is a successful man with a lot of burned bridges. After years abroad Thomas travels back to Denmark to record a new album. There, his estranged daughter, Julie, suddenly turns up with his 11 year-old grandson, Noa. Soon - and much against his will - Thomas is forced to take care of the boy. Against all odds the two of them slowly begin to connect through music. But disaster strikes forcing Thomas to realize, he has to make a choice that will change his life forever.
SOMEONE YOU LOVE is Pernille Fischer Christensen´s rendition of a modern emotional drama about discovering love within one self and finding a way back to life.
SOMEONE YOU LOVE is written by Pernille Fischer Christensen and Kim Fupz Aakeson and produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Vinca Wiedemann for Zentropa Entertainments16 ApS.
Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Vinca Wiedemann also produced Pernille Fischer Christensen´s previous film, A FAMILY. Vinca Wiedemann has also been attached as story supervisor on a number of Lars von Trier´s films including MELANCHOLIA (2011) and NYMPHOMANIAC (2013) while Sisse Graum Jørgensen´s track record as a producer includes Arce´s Academy Award-nominee A ROYAL AFFAIR (2011), Bier´s Academy Award-winning IN A BETTER WORLD (2010) and LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED (2012) and Vinterberg´s Academy Award-nominated THE HUNT (2013).
SOMEONE YOU LOVE is co-produced by Zentropa International Sweden, Film I Väst and FilmFyn with support from The Danish Film Institute, The Swedish Film Institute and Nordisk Film and TV Fond in collaboration with TV2 Denmark, SVT and with support from The Media Programme of the European Union.
Domestic release is set for April 24th 2014 through Nordisk Film Distribution.
The 64th Berlin International Film Festival runs from February 6th-16th 2014.
