We are proud to announce that the Oscar committee, has shortlisted the historical-epic THE PROMISED LAND by Nicolai Arcel, in the category Best International Feature Film.
Copenhagen, DK, December 21, 2023 - THE PROMISED LAND is shortlisted among 15 other titles from other countries, to be nominated for Best International Feature Film. Out of the 15 films shortlisted, five will be nominated for the Oscar. The announcement of the final nominations for the award will be presented on January 23, 2024. The award ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood in the new year on 10 March 2024.
THE PROMISED LAND marks Nikolaj Arcel's return to Danish cinema for the first time since his Oscar®-nominated 'A ROYAL AFFAIR' (2012). Alongside the world-renowned actor Mads Mikkelsen, the film stars the talented Amanda Collin (RAISED BY WOLVES, 2020-22), Simon Bennebjerg (BORGEN, 2022), together with Gustav Lindh (RIDERS OF JUSTICE, 2020; QUEEN OF HEARTS, 2019) and Kristine Kujath Thorp (SICK OF MYSELF, 2022). The feature is co-written by Arcel and acclaimed Danish screenwriter and director Anders Thomas Jensen (RIDERS OF JUSTICE, 2020).
Following its highly successful world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, THE PROMISED LAND has received widespread acclaim on the global stage, captivating both audiences and critics. The film has been selected for prestigious festivals such as Telluride, Toronto, San Sebastian, and Busan International Film Festival.
