BECOMING ASTRID is the incredible story inspired by the early years of world renowned children´s author Astrid Lindgren and the events and influences that shaped her to become the icon she is today. When Astrid Lindgren was very young something happened that affected her profoundly, and this combination of both miracle and calamity came to shape her entire life. It was an event that transformed her into one of the most inspiring women of our age and the storyteller a whole world would come to love. This is the story of when a young Astrid, despite the expectations of her time and religious upbringing, decided to break free from society's norms and follow her heart.

Becoming Astrid is produced by Anna Anthony and Maria Dahlin for Avanti Film and Lars G. Lindström for Nordisk Film Production Sweden in co-production with Film i Väst, TV4, Nordisk Film Production Denmark and DCM Pictures, and with support from the Swedish Film Institute, the Danish Film Institute, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH and Creative Europe Media. In association with DR, Nordisk Film Distribution and TrustNordisk.

The films local release in Sweden is set for September 2018.
