Filmlance International, one of Sweden´s largest independent production companies - and part of the UK-based Shine Group - is behind two major Scandinavian projects: the €4.6m TRUTH AND CONSEQUENCE by Jan Troell (EVERLASTING MOMENTS) and the Ella Lemhagen´s €5m THE CROWN JEWELS (Patrik Age 1.5), the first Swedish film in stereoscopic 3D.
TRUTH AND CONSEQUENCE is based on Kenne Fant´s biography of Swedish journalist Torgny Segerstedt, who became famous during WW2 for standing up against the Nazis. The project will be co-produced by Nordisk Film, with co-financing from various Scandinavian partners such as Film i Väst, Swedish broadcaster SVT and support from the Swedish Film Institute.
According to Lars Blomgren, managing director of Filmlance International and producer of the film with Francy Suntinger, filming is set to start within the next few months, once casting is completed.
Following their successful collaboration on Patrik Age 1.5, Filmlance is re-partnering with Lemhagen on THE CROWN JEWELS, written by the director from an original idea by Carina Dahl. Blomgren told Cineuropa the film will have a “Tim Burton touch” spiced with Lemhagen´s very personal style. During a police interrogation, a young girl accused of being linked to a murder tells the story of her life - a fantastic, unbelievable and yet totally true story. The film will span over 20 years.
Principal photography will start in August. THE CROWN JEWELS will be available as well as a 3X60´ TV series for SVT.
Filmlance has two other films by first-time directors set to start filming this summer: EAST SIDE STATION, a passionate love story starring Mikael Persbrandt by established television director Simon Kaijser da Silva; and THE GAMES WE PLAY by Levan Akin.
