TrustNordisk boards international sales rights for THE LAND OF SHORT SENTENCES, which premiered locally on 2 February 2023 with impressive numbers and positive reviews from audience and critics. Since the opening, the film has had more than 345.000 admissions, bringing in a total of 4.524.932 EUR at the box office.
THE LAND OF SHORT SENTENCES is based on the bestselling novel by the same name, written by Stine Pilgaard. The book has sold more than 200.000 copies and received the prestigious Danish literary award 'The Golden Laurel' in 2020. The book has been translated and published in several countries including USA and UK (World Editions), France (Le Bruit de monde) Germany (Kanon Verlag), Italy (Giunti) Spain (Nórdica Libros) among other countries and publishers.
The film adaptation of THE LAND OF SHORT SENTENCES is directed by Danish comedy film legend Hella Joof (ALMOST PERFECT, 2012 & ALL INCLUSIVE, 2014) and features Sofie Torp (HELD FOR RANSOM, 2019 & A TASTE OF HUNGER 2021), Thomas Hwan H. Synopsis
Marie's life gets turned upside down when the love of her life, Rasmus, takes on a teaching job at a local school in West Jutland, Denmark. Rather unwillingly, Marie joins Rasmus in moving their roots from Copenhagen to the windy town, Velling. While Rasmus is an immediate match to the local ways, it becomes a culture chock for Marie, who time and time again proves herself a misfit to the locals. However, as she gradually learns to listen more and talk less, she realizes that she might need Velling as much as Velling needs her – and her advice column for the local newspaper.
