Press Release: BLACK’S GAME TO COMPETE FOR THE TIGER AWARD

Rotterdam International Film Festival has officially selected Icelandic thriller BLACK´S GAME for the Tiger Award Competition.
 
"We are very pleased to present Óskar Thór Axelsson in the Tiger Award competition for first and second time directors. BLACK'S GAME is made with style, passion and conviction. This tale of the Icelandic drug and ultra violence infested underworld in the 1990´s shows the director´s talent to master the genre and make it his own", says Festival director Rutger Wolfson.
 
A recent graduate from Tisch School of the Arts in New York, Óskar Thór Axelsson is both director and script writer on BLACK´S GAME, which is his feature film debut, and even before its international premiere Entertainment One, UK has acquired the rights along with Swiss distributor Frenetic Films.

One of the executive producers of BLACK´s GAME, Nicolas Winding Refn (DRIVE, 2011), about the film: "As a fan of the gangster genre I saw in BLACK´S GAME a true freshness that kindled my interest in the gangster genre in the first place".

TrustNordisk CEO Rikke Ennis is equally thrilled about the project: “I was blown away by the script of BLACK'S GAME and when I saw the film I was even more impressed. We have a new rising star in Óskar Thór Axelsson and he will do Nicholas Winding Refn and PUSHER-fans proud”.
