Directed by 'Cold Prey' helmer Roar Uthaug, the film is based on the true story of a tsunami that hit Norway 80 years ago
Global buyers have jumped on board The Wave, a Nordic disaster movie from Cold Prey director Roar Uthaug.
TrustNordisk closed multiple presales on the title after wowing international distributors with a one-minute teaser of the upcoming project. Trust closed with AB Group for France, New View TV for China, Key2Media for Spain and Medyavizyon for Turkey, among other deals.
“The amazing hype on and interest for The Wave underlines that Norwegian films are hotter than ever and that Norway is one of the leading countries in making genre films for an international audience,” said TrustNordisk CEO Rikke Ennis.
The Wave is based on the true story of a huge tsunami that hit Norway 80 years ago. The disaster was triggered when a mountainside collapsed, causing huge damage and casualties in a number of villages along Norway's fjords. Geologists believe Norway may be overdue for another such natural catastrophe.
Kristoffer Joner (King of Devil's Island) and Ane Dahl Torp (1001 Grams) star in The Wave, which Martin Sundland and Are Heidenstrom are producing for Fantefilm Fiksjon.
